The techniques I use to create my textiles are varied, but basically I like to make my own background fabric for my stitched pieces. This background is patched and pieced together and then machine stitched to integrate the colours and patterns. After this a number of different techniques are employed to create a surface design which has first been planned in paper and paint. My inspiration for pictures and hangings are often based on personal themes. Anselm Kiefer, Paul Nash and John Piper are artists who inspire me.
Cushions and work for interiors are fashioned in a more decorative style and although my techniques are similar the images are based on the natural world.
